Provisional assessments

Please let us know as soon as possible. If you have not received a provisional assessment but would like one, you can contact us. We will then request the assessment for you. The same also applies to surcharges.

Do you get a refund?
The refund must be in your account at the end of January.

Do you pay an amount via a provisional assessment?
Then you will receive a message from the tax authorities before February 1 about the amount to be paid in 2023.

Tax plan 2023: rate change and reduction of deductibility

Tax rates and deductions
The cabinet wants to reduce the tax on income from work (box1) to € 73,071 in 2023 from 37.07% in 2022 to 36.93% in 2023. As a result of this reduction, workers will have a maximum of € 102 per year more left over. At 49.5%, the highest tax rate in Box 1 remains the same as the previous year.

Reduction in deductibility
In 2022, the maximum mortgage interest deduction will have fallen to 40%. In 2023, the reduction of the deduction will continue: it will then be 37.05%.

Disclaimer: These and the following tax changes for 2023 will only be final after they have been approved by the first chamber at the end of December. We will publish an overview of the final changes on our website in early 2023.

The latest plans and legislative changes 2022 – 2023

1 July 2022: reduction of VAT on energy costs
Since 1 July, the VAT rate on gas and electricity has been reduced from 21% to 9%. As a result, households would have to pay less for their energy costs. But because a number of large energy suppliers increased their variable rates on the same date, this VAT reduction does not always lead to fewer monthly costs. In  this article, Aeslupa explains whether and how you may be entitled to an extra energy surcharge.

Increase in child benefit
As of October 2022, parents/guardians who are entitled to child benefit will receive a higher amount per quarter. The child benefit rises to between 249.31 and 356.16 euros, depending on the age of your child(ren).

Allowances raise
The care allowance, rent allowance and the child-related budget will increase extra as of 1 January 2023. The increase is more than the usual annual inflation correction. In this way, the government wants to compensate households for increased costs. Read on the website of  the Tax Authorities  (in Dutch) what this may mean for your allowances.

Maximum payment term for invoices from SMEs adjusted
Large companies will now have to pay bills of small and medium-sized companies more quickly. The legal payment term goes back from 60 to 30 days. Are your customers paying too late? You can report this (anonymously) to the Overdue Payments Hotline of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets. In  this article  Lexlupa describes   the legal requirements for invoices.

2023: untaxed mileage allowance up
As of 2023, the mileage allowance will increase from 19 to 21 cents. It is the first time after 17 years that the fee is adjusted. Presumably, the fee will increase further in the following year: in 2024, the tax-free allowance is expected to be 23 cents per kilometer.

Budget memorandum and tax plan next year probably already presented in spring
The proposal of the Council of State to present the million-dollar bill (and thus the 2023 tax plan) not on Budget Day (Prinsjesdag), but already in the spring, will probably be adopted by the cabinet. In this way, parliament has more time for and participation in the plans. We inform our clients on the website when relevant information and changes regarding the tax plan are known.

Please note: the above plans for 2023 are only final after the first chamber agrees to this at the end of December.

Saving: tips for individuals and employers

Saving costs for households

It will not have escaped your notice that your energy bill has increased at a breakneck pace. And also with the weekly groceries you will have noticed that many products have become more expensive. Are you looking for ways to reduce costs? In  this article  from Aeslupa, we list schemes from 2022 with which you can hopefully save a few bucks.

Save on personnel costs

For employers who need to cut costs, laying off staff is often the most effective, but least desirable solution. Because employees are usually as indispensable as they are expensive, in  this article  we   list 7 ways in which you can save on personnel costs, without having to compromise on human capital.

Price adjustments 2023: 2,5% inflation correction

According to Statistics Netherlands, prices have risen by an average of 14.3%  (excluding energy: 6.7%). We at Lupacompany choose to keep our inflation correction low, with a price raise of  2.5% for 2023.

We will increase the quarterly subscriptions by 5% as of the third quarter. The hourly rates and the unit prices will increase by 2.5% as of January 1, 2023. The new prices will be on the website in the course of December.
